Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua Convenes Ukambani Leaders Meeting After NASA Deal

Machakos County Governor Alfred Mutua has taken a swipe at Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka over claims that he represents the issues of the larger Ukambani region.

Through a post on his Facebook page on Sunday, Governor Mutua stated that he had been requested to convene an urgent leaders meeting from the region to chart the way forward for the Akamba Nation.

Mutua claimed that the region’s interests had been overlooked and their people had suffered for far too long through false tribal euphoria.

“I have been requested by leaders and wananchi from Makueni, Kitui, Machakos, Taveta, Mombasa, Kwale and other areas to convene urgent leaders meeting to chart the way forward for the Akamba Nation because our people have suffered for too long and want to see real not false tribal euphoria. Wananchi wetu wamechoka Kuenjoiwa,” said Mutua.

He added that the Kamba community in past had leaders who held big positions in government but delivered nothing to their people in their own villages leaving them to wallow in poverty and underdevelopment.

Governor Mutua’s sentiments came after a section of Kamba leaders led by Kitui West MP Francis Nyenze and Kitui Senator David Musila called a press conference to express their dissatisfaction with the choice of the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) leader, Raila Odinga, as the NASA flag bearer.

Kalonzo, however, refuted the claims who maintaining that he was contented with the deal and moved on to shower praises on Odinga stating that he had the necessary political experience to challenge the Jubilee Party.

Musyoka assured his supporters that their interests had been taken care of urging them to unite behind NASA candidate Odinga.
