Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama Denies Intentions to Vie as Nairobi Senator

Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama has issued another statement dismissing claims that he is planning to vie for the Nairobi Senatorial seat in the upcoming August polls.

The Senator accused the media of misquoting remarks he made during a radio interview at Musyi FM.

He further charged the media with intentions of creating rivalry between him and Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka who is also co-principal in the National Supper Alliance (NASA).

"I have paid my nomination fees to Wiper to be nominated as a candidate for Machakos county," he said.

Muthama added: "I said I was contemplating moving to a different county, Nairobi maybe. This was misinterpreted by the media."

Yesterday media reports stated that Muthama had hinted that he would vie for the Nairobi senatorial seat under the Wiper Party ticket.

During the said interview, Mr Muthama stated that he had politically matured to a level where he could vie in any county to curb tribal politics.

“If I believe I have the muscles to go for the Nairobi senatorial seat and win. What is wrong with that? Will that not open doors for another Kamba to take after me in Machakos and grow the community’s representation nationally?” the Senator posed.
