A 30-year-old defiled a three-year-old child in Nyamira County.
The incident occurred when the man enticed the girl to follow him to his home by promising her milk.
The little girl, unaware of the danger awaiting her, left her mother who was busy selling by the roadside.
The man, who works as a tout in the area, gave milk to the girl as promised, before proceeding to sexually defile her.
Later, the mother found her child crying in pain and on inquiring, found out what had been done to her.
The distraught mother raised alarm and neighbors rushed to the scene.
When they found out about the act, the incensed crowd descended on the man, beating him.
Police reached the scene in the nick of time, and rescued the suspect from certain death.
Speaking to Citizen News, Nyamira OCPD Rico Ngare confirmed the incident and said that the suspect, now in custody is set to be arraigned in court on Monday.
In the meantime, the child continues to receive treatment at Nyamira Level-5 hospital
