Man Kills Himself at Mother-in-law's Home

A 28-year-old man in Alego, Siaya County, left residents shocked after he went ahead and killed himself outside his mother-in-law's home.

The body of Moses Otieno was found dangling from a tree outside his in-laws' home, after an alleged domestic dispute ensued between him and his wife.

The deceased is said to have commited suicide on Wednesday after his wife, who had left their home in Nyamila Sub-location on Saturday, failed to return.

“This is not the first time his wife has come back home following their wrangles. It is sad that the man had to commit suicide at his in-laws' home. It is not traditionally right for such to happen,” said a relative who sought anonimity.

North Alego Chief, Thomas Ojero, stated that Mr Otieno had followed his wife with an aim of solving their marital problems only to be found dead four days later.

The deceased was taken to the Siaya County Referral Hospital mortuary for a postmorterm procedure.

Residents termed the incident a taboo that may have been done intentionally by the deceased to cause tension.
