Angry residents in Mukisoma area Bungoma county lynched a man after he confessed to having had a hand in the death of a Boda Boda operator a few weeks ago.
The residents were enraged when the man claimed to have been part of the gang that killed the operator.
The family of the operator say the man went to their home bragging that he had been involved in the death of their loved one, and dared them to take action.
Witnesses say the man is a known drug user and could have been under the influence of bhang when he revealed the murder.
Police, who warned against the public taking matters into their own hands have started investigating the incident.
