Man Sues HIV-Positive Girlfriend For leaving Him

A 27-year-old Lawyer reportedly sued his former girlfriend who is HIV positive, after she refused to get back with him.

Kelvin Karuga Mwaura said that his ex lover (who cannot be named for legal reasons) had caused him psychiatric and bodily harm to HIV/AIDS exposure.

Mr Mwaura told the court that one day during an argument, his girlfriend broke the news that she had infected him with the virus. The young lawyer had earlier noticed that his lover took certain pills which she claimed were beauty supplements for her skin.

Mwaura however, tested negative despite having engaged severally in unprotected sex with his girlfriend. According to him, doctors confirmed that the two were a discordant couple as he had no receptors for her strain of the virus.

Interestingly, the 27-year-old was willing to stay in the relationship with his girlfriend because he still loved her even after the deception.

The partner refused to make up with Mwaura since she had been advised by members of her support group to date a HIV positive man.

Mwaura's ex lover who at first denied knowing him, told Nation that the lawyer was a mental case and that their relationship happenned long time ago.

“Does he have Aids? No? So how can he go around claiming I gave him the virus?” She said.

Mr Mwaura sought Sh1.1 Million for psychiatric and body damages caused by exposure to HIV/AIDS, but the court only awarded Sh127, 000 for reasonable fear, but no costs.

Mwaura who represented himself insisted that he sued the former girlfriend out of love and believed that they still had a chance.
