An Assistant Commissioner of Prisons stationed at the Maralal GK Prison was Friday morning found dead in his house.
According to reports, 59-year old Simon Musyoni was found lying unconscious on the couch by his official driver who had gone to pick him up at his home at around 7 am.
The driver rushed the police boss to the Maralal Referral Hospital where he was pronounced dead upon arrival.
“His driver rushed him at the Maralal referral hospital which is a few meters away but the doctors confirmed him dead,” said a source on condition of anonymity.
The source revealed that Musyoni had undergone a heart surgery six months ago and was scheduled for a regular check-up in Nairobi today.
His body was taken to Maralal Referral Hospital mortuary awaiting postmortem.
Musyomi had been in charge of the prison since 2011.
