A Member of County Assembly was on Monday arraigned in a Mombasa court for allegedly seeking bribe to solve a land dispute.
Shanzu MCA Maimuna Mwawasi was charged for supposedly soliciting Sh1.5 Million from one Morin Aketch, in order to intervene in a dispute that involved encroaching of a public road.
Ms Maimuna together with a man identified as Christopher Karisa, were also accused of interfering with the Ethics and Anti-Corruption investigations by obstructing arrest.
The MCA however, denied the charges against her and was released on a bond of Sh500,000 or a cash bail of Sh200,000.
On the other hand, her conterpart Karisa failed to honour the court summon, prompting Senior Principle Magistrate Richard Odenyo to issue a warrant of arrest against him.
The case will be heard next on February 15, 2016.
