A section of female legislators in the Embu County Assembly have threatened to lead a major protest naked in Nairobi , should Devolution Cabinet Secretary Anne Waiguru be dismissed from office.
Led by nominated MCA Shunem Ngila, the women accused those attacking Waiguru of being obstacles to development, noting that the Devolution CS had been of much benefit to the unemployed youth.
The group of 13 women promised to mobilise fellow women from the county and hold demonstrations in the streets of Nairobi, completely in their birth suits, suppose Waiguru was sacked.
“Hili nataka liende katika kila Kenya wajue wamama wa Embu tutawakusanya na malori twende Nairobi kama tumetoa nguo zote hadi zile za ndani ndiposa tuandamane. (I am saying this to all Kenyans. We shall mobilise all women from Embu and take them to Nairobi so that we can demonstrate naked without even the underware),” said Ngila.
The women urged their male counterparts to give Waiguru a chance and avoid attacking her so she could conclude all projects.
CS Waiguru has been under sharp criticism from various quarters across the political divide and on the media, over her alleged involvement in the unfolding corruption scandals at her Ministry.
Pressure continues to mount for Ms Waiguru to be removed from office, with leaders from the Jubilee coalition joining in the calls for her dismissal.
