Mombasa Boss Who Set Employee on Fire to be Arrested

The Office of the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) has ordered the arrest of the Mombasa boss who allegedly set an employee on fire over theft allegations.

Assistant (DPP) Alexander Muteti stated that the boss who tortured Isaac Njoroge by beating him then putting a tyre around him and setting him on fire will face charges of attempted murder.

Mr Muteti revealed that two security guards said to have manhandled Njoroge before taking him to the yard where he was tortured would also be prosecuted.

“The guards are the ones who tied up the driver. I have the file and it is on my desk. I have gone through it and the order is our final decision.” he told the Daily Nation.

The incident took place at PN Mashru, a road transport company that runs a fleet of buses and trucks.

Njoroge expressed that he was accused of stealing aluminum coils worth millions of shillings and was arrested and charged with the offense, then later released on a Sh100,000 bond.

He narrated that he was accosted by his former boss and the guards in January, who manhandled him and put him in a truck before he was transported to the yard where the boss poured thinner, a flammable solvent, on his back and set him on fire.

He said he would have died were it not for some workers present during the incident who grabbed a fire extinguisher and sprayed him with foam.

The incident was secretly recorded and the video circulated on social media causing a public uproar.
