VIDEO: Mombasa Bosses Set Employee on Fire

A truck driver was put on a tyre and set on fire by his bosses in a Mombasa based transport company.

38-year old Isaac Njoroge says he was accused of stealing aluminum coils worth millions of shillings and as a result the managers atacked him and set him ablaze while other workers watched.

Njoroge said he would have succumbed to the fire if some of the workers had not stepped in and saved him.

“After being tied to the tyre, one of the men poured thinner (a highly flammable solvent) on my back and lit the fire,” the Daily Nation quotes Njoroge.

The man reportedly sustained burns on his back and instead of the managers taking him to a hospital, they took him to a police station.

He was later charged with stealing the goods and released on a Sh100,000 bond. Njoroge expressed that he had reported the torture at Mariakani police station two months ago but the police are yet to act.

Patrick Ngeiwa, OCPD at Mariakani Police Station claimed that the incident is still under investiagtion.

“We expect that this week a key witness will also record a statement after which we will arrest the culprits and charge them in court,” he said
