Mombasa Communications Director, Richard Chacha, has dismissed reports spreading on social media that Governor Hassan Joho's driver had been shot dead.
Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke, Chacha stated that he was aware of the claims but termed them as propaganda on social media.
“It's a lie. I have seen the reports but those are just speculations on social media. It's not true,” he stated.
A photo doing rounds on several WhatsApp groups showed a man leaning on a steering wheel with blood all over his clothes.
Those sharing the image alleged that it was Governor Joho's driver adding that he had been shot dead earlier in the day.
This caused anxiety with some sending their condolences while others claimed the incident was related to the ongoing tussle between the government and the ODM deputy leader regarding his KCSE result slip.
In the meantime, Joho has moved to court seeking orders restraining the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI) from charging him over allegations of academic forgery until the case is heard.

A few weeks ago, he reported of six men who had reportedly raided his abandoned home in Nyali armed with AK47 rifles.
The governor claimed that he was informed of the gunmen by a neighbour adding that they camped outside the house for close to one hour before leaving.
