Joho Records Statement After Armed Men Storm His House

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has claimed that six men armed with AK47 rifles stormed his vacant house in Nyali on Tuesday night.

Speaking after recording a statement at the Coast Police headquarters, the Governor stated that the unknown men whose intention was not established later left through the beach after camping outside his compound for one hour.

According to the Governor, he was informed about the incident by a neighbour who alleged the men ordered him to stay silent over the matter.

The ODM deputy leader added that he would neither be shaken or silenced by the situation nor would he request for any additional security.

This comes a day after alleging that President Uhuru Kenyatta had directly threatened him during a public meeting at the Coast.

Joho claimed that he was now living in fear after Kenyatta vowed to "deal with him" while addressing Mombasa residents at Mtongwe.

The Mombasa leader called for a "global interrogation" of Uhuru's recent utterances noting that such remarks by the President could mean anything and he was unsure of what could happen to him.

"The President said he will deal with me. This means anything can happen to me. It is a direct threat and it is not easy to handle a direct threat from a head of state," Joho indicated.

At the same, Kiambu Governor William Kabogo warned Joho to cease engaging in verbal attacks with the Head of State.

“I want to send a strong message to these two people. One is Governor Ali Joho. Leave the President Uhuru alone! I know where you live, and I am sending this stern message to you. Joho, leave his Excellency the President alone. Leave Uhuru Kenyatta alone. Respect the President,” Kabogo stated.
