Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho Told to Apologise to DP William Ruto

Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho has been given a strict warning for what has been described as verbal attacks on Deputy President William Ruto.

Youth from the North Rift region have hit out at Joho accusing him of launching personalised attacks directed towards the DP, especially during his (Ruto) recent tour of the Coastal region.

Kerio Youth Association led by Chairman Joel Kimaiyo on Friday demanded that the governor apologises or face legal action.

The group took issue with Joho's statements in which he claimed that Ruto took advantage of the post-election violence to grab land from Kenyans.

“We want the Governor to tell us of the land he claims Ruto has grabbed. We are not taking this matter lightly. It is sad that the Governor can utter such outrageous statements to tarnish the image of the DP. We are not going to allow this anymore,” declared Kimaiyo.

The youth claimed that the ODM deputy leader was bitter that the Jubilee coalition was gaining ground in the Coast and has thus resulted in verbal exchanges against Ruto.

“Joho should know he is not in the same league as Ruto, as far as politics is concerned. Ruto is the Deputy President and Joho is a Governor in charge of a county. Jubilee has initiated a lot of development projects in the region and addressed the land issue," the group added.

Ruto and Joho earlier in the week traded political jabs with the attacks getting personal. Ruto at one point accused Joho of being an academic dwarf while on the other hand, the governor claimed the DP was a land grabber.
