Moses Kuria Announces Movement Against Corruption in CORD Counties

Gatundu South Member of Parliament (MP) Moses Kuria on Thursday outrageously claimed that the "spirit of the Lord" had told him to launch a campaign against corruption in CORD affiliated counties.

Mr Kuria highlighted that following the Auditor's General report which had linked over 20 CORD counties to the loss of millions of public funds, "spirit of the Lord had directed him to start The Omboleza Ufisadi movement."

The legislator urged Kenyans across the country to join him in vigils outside CORD headquarters in the affected counties until the respective Governors receive their petition to leave office.

“Kindly join. All you need is a black t-shirt and a candle. Then you keep vigil at the headquarters of the CORD counties mentioned in the Auditor General's report. Keep vigil with your candles there until the CORD governor receives your petition to resign,” Kuria said.

In the audits unveiled on Tuesday, it emerged that Kilifi County led by Governor Amason Kingi lost  Sh51 Million, Governor Hassan Joho's Mombasa County could not account for Sh165 Million while Evans Kidero's Nairobi could not provide details of Sh33 Million parking fees.

The alleged dubious dealings have provided a platform for Jubilee leaders to trade barbs with CORD leaders demanding them to address the issue following their vigilance in attacking the Government over corruption.

On Wednesday, Majority leader Aden Duale claimed that CORD Governors had been paying their leader Raila Odinga a monthly stipend.

Speaking at parliament buildings, Duale alleged that the billions of shillings lost in CORD counties have also been used to cater for Odinga's accommodation and flights during his campaign rallies.

"Raila receives monthly stipends from all county governments under CORD. They pay for his rallies, accommodation and flights. We want Raila to come out and refund the millions given to him as stipends.

“We have evidence of how he (Raila) has been a ghost worker in all the CORD counties for the last three years. Let him respond and we will table the evidence,” Duale stated.
