MP in Trouble, as Court Issues Arrest Warrant

A Kibera Chief Margistrate has issued a warrant of arrest against Mwingi Central MP Joe Mutambu for failing to honour an order to appear in court.

The legislator is facing assault charges after he allegedly assaulted Pastor Thomas Wahome of the Helicopter Church.

Pastor Wahome claimed that the assault happened in the MP's office along Ngong Road, where he had gone to reclaim a lorry that he leased to Mutambu the previous month.

Appearing before the court on 5th October, the lawmaker denied the charges and was released on a cash bail of Sh20,000 or Sh50,000 bond.

In another instance the legislator was accused of squeezing one Charles Kyale’s genitals on February 23 in a board room at the County headquarters. Mutambu reportedly colluded with another person and attacked Mr Kyale - a political advisor to the Kisii Governor - causing him bodily harm.

He was charged with assault, causing bodily harm and committing an indecent act. However, he denied the charges and was released on a Sh50,000 bond.

Magistrate Rose Ombata set the case for mention on October 23.
