Musalia Mudavadi's ANC Party Denies Claims that NASA Has Picked Presidential Candidate

The Amani National Congress (ANC) has denied claims that the National Super Alliance (NASA) has settled on a flagbearer.

Members of the party led by NASA Co-principal Musalia Mudavadi claimed they were unaware of such a decision.

The Standard had today quoted NASA insiders as having leaked information showing that the alliance's Technical Committee had recommended Opposition leader Raila Odinga as the coalition's flag bearer.

It was further reported that the decision to pick Kalonzo and Wetangula did not go well with committee members allied Mudavadi and his Wiper Party leader Kalonzo Musyoka.

The teams allied to Kalonzo and Mudavadi are said to have walked out of a meeting on Tuesday evening leaving the future of the coalition in a limbo.

The sources disclosed to the local daily that eight members of the 12-man committee had voted in favour of Raila for presidency and Kalonzo as the running mate.

Allies of NASA Co-principal Moses Wetang’ula are believed to have recommended the Raila/Kalonzo partnership which was resisted by both Kalonzo and Mudavadi teams.
