Muslim Leaders Dismiss Peter Kenneth's Endorsement

Muslim leaders have distanced themselves from a recent endorsement of Nairobi Gubernatorial aspirant Peter Kenneth.

The leaders on Thursday stated that the group which claimed to be speaking for the Muslim community was fake and only comes up during Election periods purporting to support certain politicians on behalf of the Muslims.

In a press statement, the religious leaders noted that Muslims in Nairobi had not yet settled on any preferred candidate for the Nairobi Gubernatorial race.

"Any Muslim organization that purports to have done that should be treated with the contempt it deserves. From experience we have come to know the so-called Muslim Organization that always appear only during election time to their own personal interests and not for the interests of the Muslim community," the statement read.

The new announcement comes after a meeting which Kenneth had on March 4th with a group identified as the National Muslims Leaders' at Crowne Plaza Hotel, where they endorsed him.

During the session, the former Gatanga MP stated that he was the best choice for Nairobi in the August 8 poll.
