Mutua: Jubilee is Not Using Me

Machakos Governor Alfred Mutua has come out to defend himself against claims from the opposition that he is a gun for hire.

This comes barely two days after Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka accused the Jubilee administration of employing divide and rule strategy in the Ukambani region.

He asserts that his agenda is to eliminate poverty in the region, noting that he is willing to work with any development minded leader from across the political divide -as long as they are willing to work with him.

"The people of Machakos who elected me to serve them come number one, number two and number three, that is the spirit of 'Maendeleo Chap Chap' (speeding up development)," said Mutua.

Kalonzo had previously insinuated that State House had hatched a plot to raid Ukambani politically. He said such plans would not succeed.

Mutua in a statement on Monday said leaders who are accusing him of allegedly being used by the government to divide the Kamba region politically, are selfish and only interested in advancing their political endeavours.

Two factions have already emerged in Ukambani; one supporting Mutua and the other Kalonzo.
