Four Cabinet Secretaries are set to resign from the Jubilee Government, just a few months to the General Election.
Two of the CSs, Mwangi Kiunjuri (Devolution) and Eugene Wamalwa (Water and Irrigation) are set to leave office so that they can run for political office in the August 8 General Election.
Kiunjuri and Wamalwa are eyeing the Laikipia and Trans Nzoia gubernatorial seats respectively.
Sports and Culture CS Hassan Wario is also set to quit the Cabinet after the Director of Public Prosecutions (DPP) approved criminal charges against him.
Wario is set to be prosecuted for criminal culpability in the infamous Rio Olympics Scandal.
Once charges are formally presented in court, the law compels all appointed state officers to resign from their office until such a matter is heard and fully determined.
The fourth name that could possibly leave Kenyatta’s Cabinet is Amina Mohamed, arguably one of the most hard working state officers in the Jubilee government.
Kenya has been leading a spirited campaign for the election of Ms Mohamed to become the Chairperson of the African Union (AU) Commission.
The elections will be held on January 30 and 31, and if successful, the Foreign Affairs CS will be forced to quit her current office and focus on her continental full-time job.
Apart from the CSs, Kenyatta will also receive a number of resignations from senior government officials who will be resigning to run in the August 8 General Election.
The law requires state officers to resign six months before an election.
Among those who will be leaving lucrative state jobs for a chance in elective politics include Kalembe Ndile, Joshua Kuttuny, Franklin Bett, Henry Kosgey, Francis Kimemia among others.
