The National Super Alliance (NASA) principals are set to hold a private meeting to pick the Opposition's flag bearer and his deputy.
Led by ODM chief Raila Odinga, the four leaders including Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper), Musalia Mudavadi of ANC and Ford Kenya's Moses Wetangula will embark on a retreat from Friday to pick the most suitable candidate.
According to sources privy to the deliberations, the four will discuss a report prepared by NASA's Technical Committee and the National Coordinating Committee regarding the Presidential candidate.
Reports indicate that the principals decided to use consensus to select the most suitable person to take on President Uhuru Kenyatta during the August 8 Election in an attempt to stem the growing anxiety in the Alliance.
“We are going for a retreat to agree among ourselves who among us will be our presidential candidate and running mate,” Musyoka told the Standard.
On the other hand, Mudavadi confirmed that the candidate would be announced soon adding that any of the four was capable of leading the country.
Talks by the Coordinating Committee reportedly stalled following hard line stances maintained by representatives of the principals.
With each party having equal representation to the Committee, the members have been supporting their own leader making it hard for any agreement to be reached.
