NASA Principals to Hold Meeting on Thursday to Discuss Presidential Candidate

The National Super Alliance (NASA) is set to make a major announcement after a meeting of the five principals.

According to the Alliance's National Coordinating Committee (NCC), the principals will hold a meeting on Thursday at the Bomas of Kenya after which they will announce the flag bearer.

Addressing the press on Wednesday, Machakos Senator Johnson Muthama, who is also a member of the Committee, divulged that the Opposition already had a presidential candidate who would soon be revealed.

Muthama who was flanked by among others, his Siaya counterpart James Orengo divulged that the principals would have an announcement to make regarding the NASA candidate.

“We have a flag bearer and very soon we will name him. Tomorrow we will have a lot to tell Kenyans. We meet tomorrow at Bomas… Kenyans will get to know where we are heading,” he stated.

On his part, Orengo denied claims that a retreat by the principals had failed, maintaining that tomorrow's meeting would be very “significant”.

Orengo further affirmed that the forum would consist of five principals - ODM leader Raila Odinga, Musalia Mudavadi (ANC), Moses Wetangula (Ford Kenya), Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) and Bomet Governor Isaac Ruto.

"The NASA principals have been four and now we will have five. We just await what will come out of tomorrow's meeting and it is a significant meeting," he asserted.

The principals were set to hold a three-day retreat on Monday to discuss on who among them would fly the Opposition's flag before the entry of Ruto, who joined NASA on Tuesday as an equal partner.
