NASA Technical Team Reveals Options For Flag Bearer

The National Super Alliance (NASA) technical team mandated to come up with a proposal for the coalition's flag bearer has revealed the options available for the coalition in the presidential race.

The NASA technical team is said to have listed three options available for the choice of coalition flag bearer.

In the first scenario, Opposition leader Raila Odinga would be the flag bearer, Amani party leader Musalia Mudavadi would be the running mate, Kalonzo Musyoka (Wiper) would be the Chief Minister while Ford Kenya boss Moses Wetangula would be the Deputy Chief Minister.

In the second lineup, Mudavadi would be the flag bearer deputised by Musyoka. The option would have Odinga as Chief Minister deputised by Wetangula.

The third scenario would see Mr Musyoka being the presidential candidate, Mudavadi would be his running mate while Mr Odinga would serve as the chief minister deputised by Wetangula.

In the report quoted by the Nation, the committee stated that the strengths and weaknesses of each option should be critically analysed based on; which formation would either guarantee the coalition a high voter turnout in their strongholds, guarantee at least 40% votes in Jubilee party strongholds or generate at least 60% of the votes in swing counties.

The NASA principals are scheduled to meet later this month to deliberate on the options and select a suitable flag bearer.

The Alliance has in the past few weeks been marred by speculations of a break up with Amani and Wiper issuing warnings that they would ditch the coalition if their candidates were not declared flag bearers.

The principals have, however, refuted such claims assuring that they would soon unveil their candidate.
