4 Notorious Female Carjackers Arrested

Police have arrested four women linked to carjackings and robbery with violence in Vihiga, Busia and  Kakamega Counties.

Western region police boss Moses Ombati said they had received information on women terrorising residents in the three counties, which led to the arrest of two suspects at Malaba border.

“Our officers pounced on the suspects as they were about to cross into Uganda and recovered a stolen motor vehicle,” Mr Ombati was quoted by the Daily Nation.

The police also recovered four stolen vehicles after victims reported they had been attacked and robbed by armed women.

Mr Ombati stated that investigations had been launched into the matter and further noted that more women were engaging in crime.

A few months ago, police nabbed a three-man gang including two women and a man who had been staging robberies in Nairobi's high-end estates – Kilimani and Kileleshwa.

The suspects were found with numerous sets of keys and crude weapons believed to have been used in carrying out the break-ins.
