NTSA Suspends Embassava Sacco Vehicles

Hundreds of Nairobi residents headed to work Thursday morning were stranded following the indefinite suspension of Embassava Sacco commuter buses and matatus.

There are hundreds Embassava vehicles operating on Eastlands routes.

National Transport and Safety Authority (NTSA) suspended the Sacco after an accident which claimed the lives of two people last week.

The accident took place at Jogoo Road when two buses, one from Embassava and the other from Forward Travelers Sacco collided head on.

According to Classic 105,  NTSA boss Francis Mejja says they had a meeting with the two Saccos' management and reached a conclusion that the Embassava bus was at fault.

The authority also inspected some of the buses from the Sacco and found them to be unroadworthy.

Consequently, the Sacco was slapped with a ban and given a directive to correct all the faults during the time.

Following the reduction of public transport vehicles on the routes, residents have decried being overcharged by vehicles from the Saccos still operating.
