A member of the National Super Alliance (NASA) Coordinating Committee has revealed one mistake ODM leader Raila Odinga made that could complicate the Coalition's plans.
Kitui West MP who is also a senior leader in Wiper Party, Francis Nyenze, accused Odinga of “killing” democracy in the Alliance by issuing direct nomination certificates to a number of ODM leaders.
Nyenze claimed that the move had complicated earlier plans to have parties within NASA hold joint nominations in some areas.
The Minority Leader in the National Assembly maintained that parties within the Opposition would also field candidates in ODM strongholds adding that they would not be directed by outsiders on how to conduct their affairs.
“What ODM has done in giving direct nominations kills democracy. If it was Wiper doing that they would be condemning it,” he stated.
He described the Orange party's decision to issue direct nomination as “bad behavior” maintaining that other parties within the coalition were equal partners.
“There is nobody who is more equal than others and there are no invitees. We will not allow bad behaviour that will kill democracy. Wiper is very democratic and when we do it, we don’t expect lectures from anywhere,” affirmed Nyenze.
The MP has been causing anxiety in the Opposition after giving a seven-day ultimatum for Wiper leader Kalonzo Musyoka to be named the NASA flag bearer failure to which the party would bolt out.
The statement was, however, dismissed by a section of Wiper leaders who termed it as a personal opinion.
