ODM Nullifies Gubernatorial Results in Homa Bay and Migori County

The Orange Democratic Movement ( ODM) on Tuesday nullified all the gubernatorial provisional results for Migori and Homa Bay counties.

The party's National Elections Board, in a statement to newsrooms, stated that it had sent down a team of investigators for fact finding before the decision was made.

The committee noted that the team would comprise of three members who would analyse all the reports from the field and come up with a suitable report.

"On Migori and Homa Bay Counties, the Central Committee approved recommendations of the National Elections Board to SUSPEND GUBERNATORIAL results in the two Counties and appointed a three-man member team to do fact-finding and report to the Committee immediately," the statement read in part.

The committee explained that the team would be led by the National Deputy Treasurer Timothy Bosire and comprises of the National Assembly Minority Whip Thomas Mwadeghu and NEB Commissioner Mr.Dominic Motindi.

In regards to Nairobi County, the committee decided that fresh elections should be held on Sunday 30th April. Deputy Party leader Hassan Joho was appointed to oversee the preparations for the same.

The committee also directed that the Nairobi County elections Board be disbanded and a new board created immediately.

"On Nairobi County, it was decided that the County Elections Board be disbanded and a new one appointed to arrange and facilitate a fresh nomination exercise.

"The Central Committee further directed that fresh nomination in Nairobi County to be held on Sunday 30th April 2017," the statement read.

The decision by the board comes only a few hours after chaotic scenes were witnessed in Homa Bay after Governor Cyprian Awiti was declared the winner and in Migori where both gubernatorial candidates were declared winners.
