ODM Offices Burnt Down

An office belonging to the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party, located in Dandora phase 4, was set ablaze on Sunday evening after a dispute arose between warring factions.

The two groups clashed after an announcement by the party to indefinitely suspend grass root elections in 17 contituencies within Nairobi County.

The move by the party to suspend the exercise came after reports emerged that the elections were tarnished by favouritism.

Police arrived at the scene to contain the situation but were overwhelmed by the rowdy crowd.

Three people are said to have been injured during the unfortunate incident.

ODM has condemned the violent act at Dandora terming it as criminal.

The grassroot elections are as a result of the party's restructuring operations which are intended to conform to the devolved system.

ODM elections have in the past been stained by violence and claims of malpractices.

The party's national elections, last year, turned out chaotic after unknown men botched the process when they invaded the arena at Kasarani Stadium where polling was in progress.
