ODM Secretary General Agnes Zani and ANC's Godfrey Osotsi Summoned over NASA Flag-Bearer Comments

The Coordinating Committee of the National Super Alliance (NASA) on Wednesday evening summoned ODM Party Secretary-General, Agnes Zani, and her Amani National Congress (ANC) counterpart, Godfrey Osotsi, over their comments on the coalition's flag bearer.

The committee led by Siaya Senator James Orengo noted that the exchange of words among the NASA partners was of great concern as it interfered with the unity of the coalition.

The ODM Secretary General had earlier this week confirmed as true a leaked document showing that NASA had settled on ODM Party leader Raila Odinga as the flag bearer, Wiper Party Leader Kalonzo Musyoka as the running-mate, ANC leader Musalia Mudavadi as Chief Minister while Ford-Kenya leader Moses Wetangula would be the speaker in the proposed line-up.

Following Zani's confirmation, Mudavadi's team led by Mr Osostsi strongly came out to accuse the ODM Party of negotiating in bad faith.

“The ODM statement is a confession that leaves no doubt as to where leaks of working documents meant to undermine NASA unity have been coming from. It is confirmation that ODM is negotiating in bad faith. This is bad manners that shouldn’t be entertained in any negotiation,” the ANC Secretary-General said.

Mr Osotsi went ahead to dismiss the leaked report, which indicated Mudavadi would be appointed as the Chief Minister, as mere propaganda meant to undermine the credibility and integrity of the NASA process.

“We are outraged – and Zani ought to know – that admission by ODM party that it is responsible for dirty propaganda leaks undermines the credibility and integrity of the NASA process. This level of arrogance shouldn’t be entertained,” he stated.

Meanwhile, the NASA coordinating committee has refuted claims of a potential split in the coalition noting that their mandate was almost done and that the flag-bearer would be unveiled soon.
