ODM Youth Leaders Ask Jubilee Government to Stop Harassing Joho or Face Demonstrations

President Uhuru Kenyatta has been given a five-day ultimatum to stop “harassing” Mombasa Governor Hassan Joho failure to which he will be faced with action.

The warning was issued by a group of ODM youth who expressed their anger in how the Governor was being treated by the State which they termed intimidation.

Speaking at the Orange House, youth leader John Ketora vowed that they would not allow Joho to continue being subjected to more woes adding that his freedom of expression was being inhibited.

"We are not happy at all. The government should stop intimidating Joho or there will be countrywide demonstrations," he declared.

Ketora accused the government of using state organs such as the DCI to intimidate leaders who do not share the same ideologies.

The same was reiterated by SONU Chairman and Embakasi East parliamentary aspirant Babu Owino who urged the government to cease intimidating governors.

Owino maintained that Kenyans had resolved to send home President Kenyatta's administration, a stand he declared was unstoppable.

“They may use all means within their power to try and stop this but this won’t change Kenyans’ resolve. We shall not watch while our leaders are harassed and distracted from discharging their duties. This we won’t allow," he vowed.

Joho has been embroiled in unending battles with the government since 2016 with his bodyguards being withdrawn on two occasions, and the latest one being allegations of forging his KCSE result slip.

He has, however, laid the blame on the government for orchestrating the troubles facing him but has maintained that he would not be silenced in defending his constituents.
