Former TNA Secretary General Onyango Oloo has revealed interesting details of the events that happened on the night before he announced his defection to ODM.
According to Oloo, press reports that he would defect caused panic at State House, with Jubilee handlers launching last-minute efforts to convince him to stay.
The outspoken lawyer indicates that so much was the pressure that at some point on the fateful evening, State House had ordered a chopper to airlift him from Kisumu where he was set to announce his defection the next morning.
“I had to lie to them that I would book a flight to Nairobi and that there was no need of dispatching a chopper to pick me up,” Oloo explained.
The next morning, Oloo, who is eyeing a parliamentary seat, addressed a press conference where he announced his departure from the ruling coalition.
The former confidant to President Uhuru Kenyatta was later received in ODM at a public rally presided over by Raila Odinga.
Oloo gave the narration during an interview with Ramogi FM where he also disputed claims by a number of Jubilee leaders who have termed his exit as inconsequential.
He added that he had left Jubilee with faithful lieutenants, noting that he could not name them for fear of the reprisal and intimidation that he was subjected to.
