10 Things Onyango Oloo Has Exposed Since He Left Uhuru’s Jubilee Party

It is now six months since former TNA Secretary-General Onyango Oloo made public his fallout with President Uhuru Kenyatta’s Jubilee Party and proceeded to join the Orange Democratic Movement (ODM).

Following his exit from Jubilee, Oloo has been making revelation after revelation on the political intrigues that transpired when he was at the helm of TNA.

Here are the revelations the outspoken lawyer has made so far:

1. Why He Left Jubilee

This was the elephant in the room when Oloo announced he had savoured his ties with Kenyatta’s party.

He disclosed that he had opted out since the Jubilee merger was abetting corruption and “political conmanship”, adding that it no longer stood for what TNA represented.

"TNA was neutral and founded on ideologies we believed in, that would take Kenya to the next level and unite them. However, little did we know we were being led into a vile and vicious political conmanship," he said.

2. Secret Files

After explaining why he had left Jubilee, Oloo revealed that he was in possession of secret files proving that CORD leader Raila Odinga won the 2013 Presidential race.

He alleged that he knew why the former Prime Minister was not sworn in after the disputed election.

"I know what happened. Raila was to be sworn in as the President and I have a lot of secrets to that effect which I cannot share publicly.

"It is not a laughing matter. I have come with a lot of secrets in several files that I will share with Raila as we prepare to take over the next government," he sensationally stated.

3. Jubilee Inflated Numbers

The former staunch Jubilee supporter would later make a daring admission of blatant electoral theft which he said helped Jubilee defeat Odinga in the 2013 polls.

He claimed that Uhuru’s team had used several tricks to secure victory including inflating numbers.

To back up the claims, Oloo cited the case of Tiaty constituency where the Returning Officer announced that President Kenyatta had garnered over 51,000 votes yet the number of registered voters was less than 18,000.

4. Plan to Sell Lake Basin Mall

After Oloo made the dramatic about turn blaming the Jubilee administration for various misdoings, the President’s henchmen came out guns blazing.

Devolution Cabinet Secretary Mwangi Kiunjuri fired at Oloo accusing him of leaving Jubilee to avoid taking responsibility for the corruption witnessed during his tenure as Chairman of the Lake Basin Development Authority (LBDA).

The former TNA Secretary General turned the tables and disclosed that Kiunjuri was plotting to sell the mega Lake Basin Mall to his relative.

"The minister was shocked to see the mega project in Luoland. It is the only mega-project in East and Central Africa owned by the government. They now want to auction it to their kin and have already found buyers," Oloo alleged.

5. State House ‘Bribe’

Onyango Oloo claimed that State House had unsuccessfully tried to convince him to stay in Jubilee after he officially announced his defection to the Opposition.

Speaking during a radio interview, Mr Oloo divulged that he received phone calls from State House promising him a lucrative appointment.

"I received several phone calls from State House imploring me not to defect, but I told them I had made up my mind. They even tried to entice me with [an] undisclosed big appointment, which I declined," Oloo said.

6. William Ruto’s Mess

In an interview with The Standard, Oloo accused Deputy President William Ruto of destroying the election machinery behind Uhuru’s 2013 win.

“When URP joined us, we had all our systems up and running, and they relied on our campaign manifestos, strategies and resources,” he said.

According to Oloo, he worked well with President Kenyatta until Ruto’s team came in.

“TNA became like a good man who marries a prostitute. It morphed into an animal which not even the President could tether,” he added.

7. Musalia Mudavadi Betrayal

Oloo has also revealed more details into the betrayal of Mudavadi by President Kenyatta in the run-up to the 2013 elections.

He disclosed that Uhuru had agreed to step down from the race for Mudavadi to contest.

According to Oloo, on the night the Mudavadi-Uhuru deal was birthed, the TNA machinery went on an overdrive and hatched schemes to force Uhuru back onto the race.

The TNA juggernaut - which included, Uhuru’s close relatives, influential elites from Central Kenya and Deputy President William Ruto - came together to block Mudavadi from becoming the Jubilee ticket candidate.

“Not even Uhuru was aware that there would be a meeting. He was called from his house to attend the meeting where we insisted that he had to be on the ballot,” said Oloo.

8. Privately Withdrawing Money

Oloo recalled how he and Sakaja withdrew money from the TNA party’s account without consulting anybody and convened a National Delegates Conference (NDC) on a day’s notice to undo the decision by Uhuru to step down for Mudavadi.

The meeting was held at the Multimedia University after which Uhuru held a fiery press conference and in betrayal most foul of Mudavadi, denounced the agreement.

9. Panic Raila Caused After 2013 Elections

Onyango Oloo revealed that after Raila moved to the Supreme Court to challenge the outcome of the 2013 presidential election, a wave of panic swept through the Jubilee camp.

This, according to Oloo, was because they knew CORD had strong evidence and that they feared “going for a re-run with a person of Raila’s calibre and energy”.

“We were lucky that the Supreme Court declined evidence from the opposition during the presidential election petition. We were holding our breath because what we feared most was going for a re-run with a person of Raila’s calibre and energy,” said Oloo.

10. Where Raila Failed in 2013

Oloo has also revealed that the Raila Odinga team lost the last polls for failing in campaign management, nomination management and defence of their vote.

However, considering his new dalliance with the Opposition he could not publicly address more on this issue.
