Orange Democratic Movement (ODM) Party Cancels Nairobi County Nominations

Nairobi County Orange Democratic Movement(ODM) supporters may have to wait longer to get their candidates after the party's National Elections Board (NEB) postponed Tuesday's nominations.

According to the ODM Director of Communications Philip Etale, the party's NEB has called off party primaries in Nairobi County scheduled for today, Tuesday, 25th April 2017.

Sources revealed that  ODM was forced to cancel the nominations after youths stormed a warehouse where ballot papers were stored on Monday night complaining that the process would not be free and fair.

Etale stated that NEB had made the decision due to unavoidable circumstances and a new date would be announced later in the day.

Tuesday’s announcement follows a similar order on Sunday where NEB declared that there would be repeat nominations on Wednesday across seven constituencies which experienced irregularities and delays during last week’s primaries.

The Director of Communications had revealed that the decision by NEB followed a review of various complaints that were presented to the party’s appeals tribunal.

The affected constituencies were Nakuru Town West, Shinyalu, South Mugirango, Naivasha, Nyaribari Chache and Kajiado East.
