A section of head teachers and parents from Nyeri County on Monday requested the Kenya National Examinations Council (KNEC) to remark the KCPE Science papers.
Head teachers from Moi Nyeri Complex and Saint Teresa, which are among the best performing primary schools in the area, claim the 2016 results in Science contradicted previous performances in the subject.
The school principal of Moi Nyeri complex, Mr Vincent Mwangi, stated that there could be no way some of the top performers could score grade A in all subjects then E in Science.
“As per my assessment, the science results do not reflect the ability of the pupils considering their past excellent performance in all subjects,'' Mwangi stated.
Another parent from Saint Teresa Primary, Mrs Sabina Mwangi, said: “We duly presented these appeals to KNEC offices in the morning hours of December 5 and we have not seen any response so far and it is alarming”.
Reports indicate that pupils from Nyeri County performed miserably with most of them scoring Es in Science despite excellent performances in all other subjects.
This year's national exams were the most guarded with only 21 cases of attempted cheating being reported in the KCPE exam whose results were recently released.
