Pastor Sentenced to 7 Years for Fraud

A court in Embu witnessed an ironic twist of events when a man of cloth was arraigned, charged and sentenced for fraudulently obtaining money from an unsuspecting citizen.

The accused, Pastor Robert Karanja Kamau was found guilty of seven charges, among them forgery and pretext with intention to defraud.

The court heard that on the 1st of April last year, Kamau and another accomplice received Sh555,000 from Mary Ruguru, having promised to sell her a car.

The exchange of money took place at the National Bank of Kenya Embu branch.

The buyer however never got the promised car, prompting her to report the matter to the police.

Principal Magistrate Samuel Mutai found the accused guilty of the charges and sentenced him to seven years behind bars.
