PHOTOS: Sakaja's Degree Questioned Over These Leaked Transcripts

TNA chairman Johnson Sakaja has finally responded to transcripts circulating online allegedly reflecting his academic performance at the University of Nairobi.

According to the transcripts, the nominated MP did not complete his Actuarial Science degree, as he failed in most of his courses and consequently failed to graduate.

Sakaja, however, maintains that he completed his studies at the University of Nairobi in 2003 and indeed graduated.

According to the nominated MP, there was no way he could declare interest in the Nairobi gubernatorial seat if he did not have a degree as required by the constitution.

"That issue was done and dusted, by the time you are getting into some of these things [campaign for governor], you have to make sure that your back is covered," Sakaja told The Star.

According to the alleged transcripts, Sakaja successfully completed his first, second and third-year studies, but failed in some courses during his fourth year.

Going by the suspicious academic documents, the Nairobi gubernatorial aspirant should have retaken the failed subjects.

The constitution requires that every candidate contesting for the gubernatorial seat to possess a degree in any field.

During the last General Election, former Starehe MP Margaret Wanjiru was locked out of the Nairobi Governorship race after it emerged she had a degree from an institution that was not legally recognised.
