Several people were reportedly trapped on Wednesday afternoon after a cargo train hit a passenger bus at Ruiru railway crossing in Kiambu County.
The accident occurred when the bus driver attempted to cross the rails as the train was approaching.
Kiambu fire brigade and the Red Cross emergency teams arrived at the scene to rescue the trapped passengers.
Six passengers are said to have been injured in the afternoon accident.
A security officer from the county confirmed the incident saying that the train driver escaped after the incident.
