Police Officer Uses His Gun to Shoot Himself

The efforts of a police officer from Marsabit County to take his own life turned for the unexpected and he ended up being seriously injured.

49-year-old  James Thuna Njehu is said to have shot himself in the head.

His colleagues found him in the nick of time, lying in a pool of blood and took him to the hospital, thwarting his plans.

Before the incident, Njehu had been working as a constable, posted at a police station in North Horr, Marsabit.

County Commander Bernard Kogo confirmed the incident to Citizen News adding that the cause of the attempted suicide is yet to be established.

The constable continues to receive treatment for the extensive head injuries sustained.
