Political Parties Tribunal Declares Wavinya Ndeti's Gubernatorial Nomination Null and Void

Former Chama Cha Uzalendo party leader Wavinya Ndeti has suffered a major setback after the Political Parties tribunal declared her Wiper nomination win for the Machakos gubernatorial seat, null and void.

Making the declaration on Friday afternoon at the Milimani Law Courts, the tribunal nullified Ms Ndeti's win and ordered a repeat of the nomination exercise within 48 hours

The tribunal also ruled that Ms Ndeti was a Wiper Party member, quashing a petition by her challenger, Deputy Governor Bernard Kiala who had raised questions as to her membership to the party.

Speaking to Kenyans.co.ke on phone, Wavinya Ndeti's communication officer Kevin Mutwiwa said that she was ready to retake the nomination.

" Wavinya is ready for a fresh nomination. We are waiting for the official communique from Wiper on the matter," said Mutwiwa.

Kiala had last week obtained orders to stop the Machakos nominations but Wiper party leaders said they had not been served with the orders and therefore went on with the polls.

Ms Ndeti later emerged as the winner by a landslide margin after garnering 299,312 votes against Mr Kiala's 4,663.

The returning officer, Jacob Mutula, while announcing the results had urged any aggrieved contender to appeal through the right channels.
