Mombasa House Speaker Thadius Rajwahi and Junda MCA Paul Onje were on Monday arrested during CORD protests against the Independent Electoral and Boundaries Commission (IEBC) in the county.
The two politicians were taken to Central Police Station alongside 11 other protesters who were waiting for Governor Hassan Joho outside Uhuru Gardens to start off the demonstrations.
Police deployed at the area launched teargas canisters at the CORD supporters to disperse them.
Joho later urged the police to allow them to continue with their peaceful protest.
At the same time Kakamega Senator Boni Khalwale was also apprehended in his County where he was leading the anti-IEBC demonstrations.
"Am in Kakamega Police Station cells arrested for participating in a constitutional and peaceful anti-IEBC demo," Khalwale tweeted.
The Kakamega demos turned violent after two groups clashed leading to several people sustaining gunshot injuries.
