Possible Loss of Jobs at Kenya Airways

Top Kenya Airways managers are likely to be sent packing if a possible restructuring of the management by the government is effected.

Appearing before a Senate committee on Tuesday, Cabinet Secretary for National Treasury Henry Rotich, announced that the government would only help the airline after a massive change of management.

The government further conditioned that the national carrier produces a turn-around plan before getting any financial help.

Rotich also told the committee led by Kisumu Senator Anyang' Nyong'o that consultations with regards to changing the airline's board members were also in progress.

Kenya Airways made a record loss of Sh.25 Billion which the management attributed to high operating cost and competition from the Middle East airlines.

In prior sessions of the committee probing the matter, former CEO Titus Naikuni's suitability to manage the airline was questioned given he had no experience in top management of an aviation company.
