President Uhuru Kenyatta to Finally Meet Joe Kadenge

President Uhuru Kenyatta has agreed to meet legendary footballer Joe Kadenge who has been ailing for quite a long time and had asked to meet the Head of State.

In a message delivered by Ministry of Sports Permanent Secretary Joe Okudo who paid Kadenge a visit at his Mariakani estate home in Nairobi, Kenyatta said he would meet the retired footballer on Sunday or Monday.

“The President has sent me to come and gauge how Kadenge is fairing health wise after leaving the hospital,” explained Okudo.

“He instructed me to deliver his message to the family that he would want to meet with Kadenge in the next two to three days in person at State House.”

According to the PS, the President is expected to discuss with the 82-year old sportsman on improving his health, acquiring him an insurance cover as well as how to set up an initiative to improve the health standards of former heroes and heroines in this country.

The ailing legendary footballer thanked President Kenyatta for granting him an appointment, adding his health was improving by the day after being discharged from the hospital a few days ago.

“Though I am still not feeling well, I can personally feel great improvement on my body,” Kadenge said

On December 26, Kadenge was rushed to hospital by his fellow legendary footballers George Sunguti and Reginald Asibwa after he was overcome by diabetes and high blood pressure.

He later made an emotional request asking to meet President Kenyatta and his predecessors Mwai Kibaki and Daniel Moi as part of his last wishes.

"There are people in Government that I would like to meet. First and foremost, President Uhuru Kenyatta. I would also like to meet the retired Presidents too. You remember," a frail Kadenge said.

He added, "It seems my body doesn't like me anymore. I would like to say goodbye to them so that if God calls me today, I will have an opportunity to say goodbye to them".
