President Uhuru Kenyatta and Deputy President William Ruto on Wednesday received leaders of the Economic Freedom Party (EFP) who had paid them a courtesy call at State House, Nairobi.

The leaders led by their chairman Issack Hassan Abey and the Party’s Secretary General Abdullahi Gessey, expressed their desire to partner and work together with the Jubilee party in "achieving the agenda of entrenching democracy and uniting all Kenyans".

Also in the group was former Devolution Ministry Senior Administrator and Mandera Gubernatorial aspirant Hassan Noor Hassan who assured the President of the party’s support in his re-election bid.

“We support you as our President and we are mobilizing voters to ensure you get 98% of the votes in Mandera County and in other places,” Noor noted.

The party, which boasts of three serving Members of Parliament; Mohamed Maalim, Fathia Mahbub and Hassan Osman stated that they were supporting President Kenyatta because of his good leadership.

"We have seen and tasted the fruits of your good leadership. During the famine, we saw what your government did to ensure no one perished because of hunger. We have witnessed the delivery of services and we are truly satisfied with your leadership,” a member of the delegation stated.

Kenyatta and the Deputy President expressed their gratitude to the EFP leaders stating that the willingness to partner with Jubilee demonstrated true friendship.

“As far as I am concerned, your party is Jubilee. We will not in any way be biased, all of you are our people. It is wananchi who will decide their leaders,” President Kenyatta asserted.

The Head of State assured them of his support as they conduct their campaigns.

EFP is the newest party in the country and was launched on Saturday, April 29.
