President Uhuru's Visit to Kadenge Interrupted by Power Blackout in South B Estate

President Uhuru Kenyatta’s visit to football legend Joe Kadenge was on Sunday interrupted by a security scare that saw the elite presidential bodyguards react swiftly to protect the head of state and his wife, First Lady Margaret Kenyatta.

Kenyatta’s meeting with Kadenge was on two occasions disrupted by unscheduled power blackouts that affected parts of Nairobi’s South B estate where Kadenge lives.

The President’s security team had a hard time coordinating the unique visit, having to pitch a security tent at Mariakani Gardens estate, outside Kadenge’s flat.

However, it was the power blackouts that complicated matters with the elite bodyguards being forced to use torches as the President was living the house at around 7pm.

In a video shared by NTV, Uhuru is seen leaving Kadenge's building in darkness with a heavy cordon of security officers surrounding him and Margaret.

News of the embarrassing incident was met with anger as a section of social media users condemned the failures in the power company.
