Raila, Kalonzo, Ruto, Mudavadi and Wetangula Meet to Plan How to Beat Jubilee

National Super Alliance (NASA) principals Raila Odinga, Kalonzo Musyoka, Musalia Mudavadi, Moses Wetangula and Isaac Ruto will from today hold a 2-day retreat at the Coast to craft a campaign strategy ahead of the August polls.

The principals will be joined by the 12 members of the NASA National Coordination team led by Siaya Senator James Orengo and his Machakos counterpart Johnson Muthama.

Although the venue for the retreat remains secret, Muthama confirmed that the NASA leadership team was going to the Coast for some housekeeping issues now that the flag bearer had been unveiled.

The NASA leaders will embark on forming what is understood to be an effective campaign strategy and team with adequate personnel and sufficient resources to rally the nation behind Mr Odinga.

The retreat comes amidst growing opposition to Raila being declared the NASA flag bearer, a decision that did not go down well with some Wiper party leaders.

Kaya elders have also termed the agreement a raw deal for the Coastal region who feel left out with no leader from the region being included among the principals. Both the president and his deputy have also dismissed the NASA line-up and assured their supporters of victory in the elections scheduled for August.

With this being viewed as the final realistic chance for Mr Odinga to clinch the presidency, the August polls will be the ultimate battle for the former prime minister.

NASA has been rallying Kenyans around the key issues of fighting corruption, lowering the cost of living, job creation, eradication of poverty and uniting Kenyans.

It is expected that their campaign strategy will focus on these key issues even as they look to maintaining the votes in the NASA strongholds and making inroads in Jubilee strongholds.

NASA will also be keen on ensuring massive voter turnout in their strongholds to secure a victory.
