Raila Odinga Criticizes President Uhuru Kenyatta for Attacking Governor Joho

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga has declared that the Opposition will stand by Mombasa Governor Ali Hassan Joho amid the ongoing feud he is locked in with the National Government.

Speaking on Monday, Odinga noted that Joho was a loyal member of the ODM Party and National Super Alliance (NASA), therefore, the Opposition would defend him "come rain or shine".

“These bad manners will not be entertained. We will stand with Joho come rain or shine. Joho is not just any ordinary person. He is a leader elected by his people,” Raila said in an interview with The Star.

The Opposition chief observed that the Mombasa Governor was a victim of a campaign against the opposition because he retained the coast region in the opposition, despite Jubilee's efforts.

Odinga accused President Uhuru Kenyatta of abusing his powers by using his office to insult, intimidate and harass Opposition Governors.

According to the Opposition chief, "something is very wrong" with the President.

“This behavior by the President needs prayers from Kenyans. He is not just abusing his powers but he is demeaning the institution of the presidency,” Raila said.

Odinga added that President Kenyatta should be censured for not behaving like a head of state.

Raila is today expected to have a meeting with his NASA co-principals Kalonzo Musyoka of Wiper, Moses Wetangula of Ford Kenya and Musalia Mudavadi of ANC.

Odinga, who jetted back to the country yesterday, had been on a tour of the US for over a week.
