Raila Reveals 5 Mistakes Uhuru and Ruto Committed

Opposition Leader Raila Odinga has mentioned mistakes President Uhuru Kenyatta and his deputy William Ruto made, which he believes have occasioned the state of affairs bedeviling the country.

According to Odinga, Kenyatta and Ruto had an attitude which made them believe they were experts hence ignored advise from anyone including their own political mercenaries.

“First, the president and his deputy came in with the attitude that they are experts in everything and they were not going to listen to anyone, even to their hirelings,” Odinga said.

“That actually was the coded message in the declaration that the president and his deputy were going to be the only politicians in government”.

The former Prime Minister, further said that the Jubilee Leaders erred when they disbanded crucial institutions that used to think on policy issues.

“The National Economic and Social Council (NESC) which had local and foreign experts last met under the grand coalition. It was essentially killed and left a huge gap,” he said.

Thirdly, the CORD leader accused the ruling coalition of suffering from the “get rich quick mindset” that caused it's officials to focus on looking for money out of procurement tenders.

Fourthly, he blamed the government over what he termed as 'arrogance' which made the ruling leaders not to see its mistakes.

“Add to that, the arrogance that makes Jubilee refuse to admit that they are wrong. That is why they are pushing on with unsustainable projects like laptops”. Odinga said.

In an interview with the Nairobian, Raila concluded by stating that there was neither sense of direction, nor a strong political leadership to steer the nation ahead.

"But I think that overall, the failure is a result of lack of or weak political leadership and absence of overall philosophy and sense of direction. It is difficult to tell what jubilee is trying to achieve and by what time." Odinga concluded.

The Opposition Chief has relentlessly piled pressure on Uhuru's Government, mainly on matters security and corruption, with the most recent being the EuroBond saga and alleged shielding of former Devolution CS Anne Waiguru.

Raila now wants the Government to come out clear on what it did with the EuroBond proceeds.
