Raila Reveals in Garissa How He Helped Duale When He Had Nothing

CORD leader Raila Odinga on Thursday launched a scathing attack at National Assembly leader Aden Duale during the mass voter registration drive in Garissa County.

Mr Odinga stated that he was baffled at how Duale was constantly attacking the Opposition yet he helped him when he was a 'nobody'.

The former Prime Minister told the Garissa locals that he spearheaded Duale's career in politics way back in 2007 when he picked him from Mombasa and urged the Sheikhs to support him in the then Dujis constituency parliamentary seat.

"I personally picked up Duale and took him to one of the Sheikhs and a group of renown elders in Garissa Town, and prevailed upon them to support him for the Dujis constituency parliamentary seat," Odinga said.

The ODM leader further highlighted it was unfortunate that since Duale changed camp and joined Jubilee, he was always abusing him.

"But unfortunately Duale, a political novice then, is now among those going around the country abusing and calling me all manner of names. I leave all this to God,” Mr Odinga noted.

During the rally, the Opposition leader accused the Jubilee Government of betraying the Muslim community.

"Jubilee has betrayed the Somali and Muslim community in Kenya by treating them as suspects and criminals in the name of fighting terrorism," he mentioned.

He further called on the government to withdraw Kenya Defence Forces (KDF) soldiers from Somali stating that the mission lacked a proper strategy.

"Our troops are being killed day and night because we lack the strategy. We have overstayed in Somalia. It is time our troops came back home," the former Premier said.
