REVEALED: Majority of Kenyans Not Interested in Religion

A survey conducted by the FinAccess Household has revealed that  majority of Kenyans do not consider religion as an important element on their list of goals.

According to the study, which was published by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) and the Central Bank of Kenya, Kenyans' goals vary across age groups with religion obligations only forming an average of 5% across the population's objectives.

This is contrary to the apparent belief that Kenyans are very religious, as the outcome showed that they preferred attaining other goals over religion.

The survey also indicated that most Kenyans between the age of 36-45 were more interested in educating themselves and their families, followed by those between 45-55, 26-35, 18-25 and above 55 years respectively.

On the other hand, individuals above 55 years are more concerned with putting food on their table than any other age group.

In addition, the research also indicated that most Kenyans were not enthusiastic about keeping in touch with their family members and friends across the ages. The study outlined that persons above 55 years were the most concerned with their kins.

The report also revealed that only a few Kenyans were aiming at building or improving their own houses with all the respondents puting the goal at less than 10% in their priority list.

The 2016 FinAccess Household Surveys Report was conducted between August to October 2015, to measure Kenya’s financial inclusion landscape and its dynamics over time.
