REVEALED: What Uhuru Does Before Reading His Speech

President Uhuru Kenyatta's speech writer Eric Ng'eno has provided insight into what the President does before coming out to read his speech in public.

Depending on the nature of the speech, President Kenyatta gives a very clear idea of what he wants to say at any given time. This according to Mr Ng'eno serves as a guide to the team involved in crafting the speech.

Ng'eno noted that the President is always involved in the crafting of his messages where he will either dictate or approve the written speech.

After the speech is written, Kenyatta goes through it sentence by sentence and makes copious notes.

Ngweno added that the President has to ensure that every speech bears his thoughts as he conceived them, and his language as he and the nation are accustomed.

The State House insider stated that the speeches are worked on by a team in the Presidential Strategic Communication Unit (PSCU).

"The PSCU departments make a lot of input to give every speech the required texture and depth. The Spokesperson likes to ensure that key government messages are embedded in every speech, subject to relevance," Ng'eno told the Nairobian.

According to the State House official, Uhuru wants his speeches to capture his words, wishes and energy as much as possible.
